Southeast Asian Queers United for Empowerment and Leadership's (seaQuel) mission is to provide a safe and supportive space for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, queer and questioning (GLBTQQ) as well as straight SEAA (Southeast Asian American) youth where they can lead healthy lives and develop their leadership and organizing skills to become involved in creating social change in their communities. seaQuel builds the leadership skills of SEAA youth, brings cross-cultural and inter-generational dialogue on sexuality to the SEAA community, and seeks to challenge the larger GLBTQQ community's definition of diversity.

seaQuel has spent the past 3 years building a strong base of GLBTQ SEAAs and allies. From Lowell, MA to Stockton, CA, to Newport News, VA, GLBTQ SEAAs have flocked to seaQuel to find refuge and a family who can understand and support all of our multiple identities and struggles. We have been able to build a critical mass of GLBTQ SEAA leaders who now stand poised to challenge patriarchy and sexism in the SEAA community and expand ideas of diversity and inclusion in the mainstram GLBTQ community.

seaQuel meets every other Sunday, from 5-8pm at members' homes throughout Providence. It is a safe, confidential space for any GLBTQQ SEAAs and friends. For more information or to find out about our next activity, contact Mimi Sinouthasy at 401.263.6298, visit the seaQuel myspace at www.myspace.com/seaQuel or email us at seaQuel@prysm.us.
