Deportation Memories
The Deportation Memories Project is an effort to record firsthand accounts of the history of deportation that been tearing apart the Southeast Asian community since 2002. PrYSM sees deportation as an attack on immigrant and refugee families. In 2005, we held legal clinics and did one-on-one casework in order to help deportees fight their deportation orders. Here are the stories of two of these young men, Vanna Kong and Bunsok Chhorm:
This project is the work of Eva Wu (Brown `06), who interned with PrYSM during the summer of 2005. Her internship was made posssible through the support of Brown University. Cindy Beavon (Brown '07) and Julia Wolfson (Brown '06) also contributed to the project. Finally, the project could not exist without the selfless participation of the deportees and their families.
